Colchicum ‘Lilac Wonder’

Widely available for decades, its healthy floral production and plant vigor keep it popular. A clump I know very personally has bloomed prolifically and faithfully at the Berkshire Botanic Garden since I first saw it over forty years ago. When it was originally planted I do not know. A succession of true lilac colored blooms is produced, the earliest flowers eventually tumbling over to make way for those that follow. Not as tulip-shaped as others because its petals are separated from each other instead of overlapping. Mid to late Sept.
