All our mail order offerings are heavy and expensive to ship, either because of the packaging needed for the safe arrival of the bareroot items or simply because of the weight of the Colchicum bulbs themselves (as a reference, 5 Colchicum corms plus the box weighs over 2 lbs.). USPS Ground Advantage and Priority Mail rates are based on the distance the parcel must travel, i.e., the farther away, the higher the cost. The destination Zip code (where you want your order sent) determines what postal zone you are in relative to  where we are in Massachusetts. We have found that there is a noticeable rise in costs for parcels being sent beyond zone 3, so felt the need to establish a second range of rates for addresses in zone 4 and beyond.

We constantly wrestle with how we can make shipping costs bearable for our customers while at the same time preventing us from losing money on packing and shipping. Please know we continue to try to be as fair as possible.
