As talented breeders kept introducing larger and larger flowers that then became the "standard" against which all others would be judged, varieties genetically unable to achieve such size started losing out, no matter how beautiful. Sections for intermediate sized blooms were created to showcase and reward these great things in smaller packages. Deference is one of my favorites. It has almost faultless form and is a rich clear yellow. Introduced in 1994 by Dick and Elise Havens.
